Lithium ore processing plant is a mineral processing method that uses the flotation principle to separate lithium minerals (such as spodumene, lithium aluminum ore, etc.) from other impurity minerals in lithium ore. The flotation process uses the difference in the surface properties of minerals. When a flotation agent is added, the interaction between bubbles and minerals causes the target mineral to attach to the bubbles and float to the liquid surface, forming a foam layer, thereby achieving mineral separation.
The lithium ore flotation process includes the following stages:
1. Lithium ore crushing and grinding: First, the lithium ore is coarsely crushed and finely ground to increase the degree of dissociation of mineral particles.
2. Agitation and chemical reagent adding: According to the different mineral characteristics, flotation reagents (such as collectors, inhibitors, etc.) are added. The function of these reagents is to selectively change the properties of the mineral surface to distinguish lithium minerals from other impurity minerals.
3. Froth flotation: Bubbles are added to the flotation tank, and the reagents are stirred to act on the surface of the minerals. Lithium minerals will attach to the bubbles and float to the upper layer of the flotation tank, forming a foam layer.
4. Concentration: The foam containing copper minerals is skimmed from the top of the flotation cell and collected as concentrate. The concentrate usually contains a higher proportion of copper and will be further processed for smelting or refining.
5. Tailings treatment: The remaining slurry, called tailings, contains gangue minerals and is discharged from the flotation cell. Proper tailings disposal is a necessary measure to reduce environmental impact.
